Retin-A is the brand name for the generic drug tretinoin, a derivative of vitamin A. When used in conjunction with topical minoxidil, the exfoliatory properties of Retin-A are thought to enhance the penetration and absorption of minoxidil.

Side Effects

Tretinoin is well tolerated by most patients. It is very safe when used with your doctor's supervision. Possible side effects include tingling, redness, dryness or flaking of the scalp. Adverse effects may subside as your skin adjusts to the medication. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, as treatment tends to make skin susceptible to sunburn.
